Elmo's Here!
Fisher-Price has outdone itself with the T.M.X. Elmo, it's just
amazing what they have accomplished with the technology that is
available and still kept the price down.

Toys are tools for learning since children
learn through play. Providing quality learning tools may be a
tricky task for parents. There is no shortage of toys
available for children of all ages and toys can do amazing things.
What matters most, however, isn't what the toy does, but what it
enables the child to do. Toys should stimulate activity,
inspire imagination and promote creativity.
More importantly, toys should be safe. Be sure to provide toys that
are appropriate for your child's age and development. Check
toys often for damage and dispose of broken items. Always
supervise your child while they are playing with toys. Better
yet, play with them!
Here you will find a selection of toys that have been my child's
favorites. Look at the toys in the Toy Chest, and let us know
if there's a toy you'd like to add!

A great first doll house,
The Little People Sweet Sounds Home
is made for children age 1 to 5 years. The home includes three
Little People characters (Mommy, Daddy and Baby), a table, two
chairs, a stroller, a play seat, a bed and fence pieces.
Children will enjoy exploring each room and making sounds happen
(e.g. closing the toilet seat and hearing a flush, pressing on the
phone to make it ring). This sturdy, durable and easy to clean
play set offers children opportunities to discover how their actions
make things happen, imitate everyday experiences and interact with
others by role-playing and pretending.

This is truly the best toy around for children age 6 months to 3
years.
The Laugh & Learn Learning Home is
a two-sided play house packed with activities designed to introduce
your child to everyday experiences and early academics. It
offers two interactive play modes with 21 songs and more than 25
sounds and encouraging phrases. Babies and toddlers will enjoy
ringing the doorbell, going through the door, turning on the lights,
opening the window, mailing letters, sorting shapes, dropping balls
through the downspout, listening to the radio and so much more.
As children develop they'll discover new ways to play with this
invaluable toy.

Stimulate your child's senses with the
Dance Baby Dance! Classical Stacker
for children age 6 months to 3 years. The set includes four
colorful, translucent stars of varying sizes and a smiling star
topper that fits on a lighted pole with a rounded, rocking musical
base. Stars twinkle with light as music plays when the pole is
activated. Babies and toddlers will learn to identify colors
and differentiate sizes while building motor skills by grasping,
handling and stacking the textured stars. The stacker plays
three classical songs and two children's favorites.

Baby's First Blocks is a classic,
durable learning toy for children age 6 months to 3 years. The
set includes twelve brightly colored red, blue and green block
shapes (circle, square, triangle and star) and a blue sorting lid
that rests on a yellow container. Babies and
toddlers will strengthen motor skills as they grasp, handle and drop
the blocks through the sorting lid. Identifying, matching and
sorting the colors and shapes will develop problem-solving skills.
This simple, versatile toy will quietly entertain and educate your
child for years.

Helpful Hint from Mom:
Toys don't have to be expensive or store-bought to be enjoyed.
With a little imagination, everyday household items can become tools
for learning.
Consider these ideas:
-
Blankets make great tents.
-
Caps, lids and containers from different
size items (for example, hair spray cap, laundry
detergent lid, margarine tub, cottage cheese container)
can easily become stacking cups.
-
Containers filled with rice or cereal
can make rattles.
-
Toilet paper or paper towel tubes can be
made into play microphones, binoculars or a telescope.
